The Ongwediva Town Council has proposed to establish a new Sport Stadium to be located on Erf 7410 at Ongwediva Extension 17 (Elyambala village). The proposed sport stadium will feature a modern infrastructure such as a natural turf (grass) playing field surrounded by athletic track area and steel pavilions. Provision will also be made for entertainment performance areas, gate control rooms, change rooms and ablution facilities The proposed development will trigger certain activities listed under the Environmental Management Act of 2007 (Schedule 5.1) that may not be undertaken without an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) being conducted and Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) being obtained.
