230118000841 - THE APPLICATION FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF AN EXISTING 132KV OTJIKOTO – OKATOPE TRANSMISSION LINE OSHIKOTO REGION.

This is renewal for the ECC for the operation and maintenance of an existing 132kv Otjikoto – Okatope Transmission line Oshikoto Region. In 2019, NamPower obtained an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the Vegetation Management within the 132 kV Otjikoto – Okatope Transmission line servitude, However, the other operational and maintenance activities were not included in the previous ECC which was issued. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (2012), the activity described as “The construction of facilities for the transmission and supply of electricity…” requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the renewal of the ECC for the operation and maintenance of an existing 132 kV Otjikoto – Okatope transmission line in order to comply with the Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
