The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of the 66kV Lorelei - Aurus line and Aurus substation. The 66 kV Lorelei – Aurus transmission line and Aurus substation was constructed prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
