221108000280 - Construction and operation of the proposed Mutjimangumwe Woodworks Cooperative in Mpungu settlement, Nkulivere Focal Landscape, Kavango West Region

The Ministry of Environment Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) is implementing a six-year Project called the Namibia Integrated Landscape Approach for Enhancing Livelihoods and Environmental Governance to Eradicate Poverty (NILALEG) Project in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial assistance from the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project aims to “promote an integrated landscape management (ILM) approach in key agricultural and forest landscapes, reducing poverty through sustainable nature-based livelihoods, protecting and restoring forests as carbon sinks and promoting land degradation neutrality.” One of the components of the NILALEG Project is is to bring about change and new opportunities for livelihoods based on sustainable harvesting from nature, and processing of products from sustainably managed forests and rangelands. In line with this component, the NILALGE Project is supporting the establishment of Mutjimangumwe Woodworks Cooperative (MWC) in Mpungu settlement, Nkulivere Landscape, Kavango West Region.
