The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 66KV Marble – Karibib transmission line and Karibib Substation. The 66kV Marble – Karibib transmission line and Karibib substation was constructed before the commencement of the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
